Nissan To Compete with Ford Cargo Van

August 26th, 2008

Nissan is not a company that is known for its extensive van production. However Nissan has announced plans to release a new cargo van within the next couple of years. This commercial van is comparable to the Ford Cargo Van and it is believed that it will be able to compete in the market against the leading Ford Van.

Ford Cargo Van

Ford Reviews reveal that the Ford Cargo Van is the leading cargo van for commercial van drivers. Dodge Reviews and GM Reviews are also good but the Ford Van is the one that really stands out. New entrants into this market must plan to compete with the Ford Cargo Van.

Nissan Seeks to Compete Against Ford Van

Nissan has announced plans to release a 2010 cargo van intended for commercial sales. To compete in this market, it has to offer van quality that is as good as or better than the Ford Van. Nissan’s promotional efforts are aimed at making sure that people know that the new Nissan cargo van is comparable specifically to the Ford Cargo Van.

A New Cargo Van

It is interesting news that Nissan is planning to get into the cargo van market. Not many car makers out there today are interested in the van market especially the commercial van market. However, with sales dwindling on other big vehicles, the cargo van market is a rare area of the industry that is staying strong. Perhaps that’s why Nissan seeks to compete with the Ford Van in this part of the business.

Vans: The Right Passenger Van for your Area

August 21st, 2008

One of the things that you should concern yourself with when you are looking to purchase a passenger van is whether or not the van is the right type of vehicle for the area where you live. Different types of vans are going to be better for certain terrain, weather, lifestyles and even the culture of the area where you live.

Passenger Van and Driving Conditions

You will want to consider what the driving conditions are in the area where you will be driving the passenger van. Think about the terrain in the surrounding region and whether or not it’s terrain that is tough for some vans to handle. Also consider the weather and what accommodations would need to be made to the van to make it suitable to the weather.

Vans and the People Who Live Near You

You will also want to think about the culture where you live and whether or not vans are widely accepted in the area. The passenger van isn’t particularly eco-friendly and it’s certainly not small. Cities that are earth-conscious and cities that are dense with drivers may not be the best places to drive a van.

Choosing the Right Van

To find the right passenger van for your area you will need to read van reviews with an emphasis on determining whether the van is suited to the driving conditions and culture of your area. Check out a variety of reviews (Bentley Reviews, Jaguar Reviews, Plymouth Reviews and so on) to see which types of vehicles are right for your region and whether vans would be suitable.

Passenger Vans: Being Creative with a Van

August 19th, 2008

Some people really want their vehicle to be something that expresses who they are. This is as true for people who drive vans as it is for people who drive other types of vehicles. The passenger van is certainly a car that you can get creative with but you really need to be smart about the van you choose if you want to have enough flexibility to truly express your sense of style.

Choose a Passenger Van That Suits You

The most important thing about choosing a passenger van that you can be creative with is that you choose one that starts off as a van that already reflects your style a little bit. You don’t want to look at family vans if you’re more of the VW van kind of personality.

Alter the Van to Express your Own Style

There are many different things that you can do to a passenger van to have it tell the world more about who you are. Bumper stickers, curtains for the van windows, unique paint jobs, new interior … these are just some of the things that people do to their vans to make them more creative and personalized.

Checking out Vans

The best way to get a really good sense of which vans are going to lend themselves well to the kind of creative self-expression that you are interested in will be to read a lot about various van choices. Check out reviews of vans (Suzuki Reviews, Maybach Reviews, Ferrari Reviews, whatever catches your attention) and see if they give you some inspiration about the vans that might be likely to serve as a palette for your creative driving talents.

Chevy Uplander Mini Van Repair

August 14th, 2008

The Chevy Uplander is a Mini Van produced by Chevy starting in 2005. This van is a good van that doesn’t need a lot of repairs. However, there are some important things that owners of this Chevy van should know in terms of repairing the vehicle.

Lifetime Production of Chevy Van

The most important thing to know about this Chevy van is that the lifetime production of the mini van is short. The van was launched in 2005 and will be ending production next year when the plant that produces the Chevy Uplander is going to be closed. This means that mechanics may not get a lot of experience in repairing the Chevy Uplander and therefore van repair costs could be high because they will require some level of specialized labor skills.

Chevy Mini Van Repair

Compared to other vehicles (see AM General Reviews for example), the Chevy Mini Van doesn’t require a lot of repairs. It is notable that this van is a relatively new van, though. As time goes on, the mini van will wear down and need some repairs just like any other van would.

Learn to do Van Repair Yourself

Those people who own this Chevy van may want to think about learning how to do mini van repair on their own. This will help to keep lifetime van repair costs low for the Chevy Uplander. Doing the repairs yourself will mean that the only thing you need to really worry about is the costs of the parts for this van. This could be a problem with Uplander production coming to an end so consider getting a Chevy van just for parts before that happens.

Clubs for VW Camper Van Lovers

August 12th, 2008

There are a lot of car clubs out there but there just aren’t a lot of clubs out there for fans of the van. What you will find, however, is that specific types of vans do draw people together in the formation of clubs. The VW van is such a van. The most popular VW van club out there is the club for people who use their van as a camper van.

Lack of Van Clubs

Read through basic car review sites like Toyota Reviews and Maybach Reviews and Eagle Reviews and you will find that almost every brand of car has a club built up around it. You won’t find the same thing for the van. The van just isn’t a popular vehicle in the sense that people would form together around their enthusiasm for it. However, some van clubs do exist out there.

VW Van Clubs

The one van that you are going to find that consistently has a strong following of enthusiasts is the VW van. There are VW van clubs online and around the nation. This is because the VW van has a great history. The VW van is also a van that tends to be considered a “social van” which increases the interest in clubs forming around the driving of this van.

Camper Van Clubs

The most popular clubs for VW van owners are camper van clubs. These are clubs for people who use their Volkswagen van as a camper van. Some of these clubs even host outdoor camping events since their members all like to use the camper van to get out and commune with nature while communing with others.

The Speed of a Dodge Caravan Mini Van

August 7th, 2008

If someone told you that they wanted to talk about the speed of a Dodge Caravan Mini Van, you might laugh. The Dodge Van definitely isn’t known for getting great speeds even in comparison to other van options out there. However if the person wanted to talk to you about Dodge Caravan performance overall then you might find that it’s no longer a topic to scoff about.

Dodge Van Speeds

If you take a look at Dodge Caravan Reviews (or really at any Dodge Reviews for the brand’s vans) then you are going to see that speed is not a topic that people talk about with this van. The Dodge mini van is a fairly heavy van that doesn’t accelerate quickly and that isn’t going to top out at speeds that most people are going to find worth their time to talk about.

Dodge Mini Van Engines

It should be noted, however, that there are differences from one Dodge Van to another. That’s because you can opt to get different sizes of engines with the Dodge Caravan mini van. Those van owners who opt to purchase a Dodge Van with a better engine are going to find that they get better speeds, speeds that they may not be so ashamed to talk about after all.

Van Performance for Dodge Caravan

Even with the better engine, the speeds of the Dodge Van aren’t particularly impressive. However, you should keep in mind that speed is only one factor that you would take into consideration when looking at the overall performance abilities of a mini van. When you look at the other features of the Caravan, you see that this van actually gets good performance overall. A favorite feature of this van is the fact that it offers a smooth car-like ride.

Photographing Vans: Mini Van vs. VW Van

August 5th, 2008

One of the things that you would discover if you were to get a job photographing different types of vans is that pictures of a van will vary significantly depending on the type of van that it is. Sure, there are some basic similarities but there are some major differences. Looking at how to photograph a mini van compared to how to photograph a VW van will emphasize this.

Van Photos of a Mini Van

The pictures that you would take of a mini van would probably be pictures that didn’t include any people in them. If they did, the mini van would be filled with a family going on a road trip. You would definitely photograph both the interior and exterior of the mini van to emphasize its size. The mini van may be moving or still in the photo.

Photos of a VW Van

In contrast, photos of a VW van would almost certainly have people in them. There would be groups of young people in and around the VW van. Most likely you wouldn’t really see the interior of the VW van but would instead get only exterior shots. VW van pictures are almost always pictures of still vans, not moving vans.

Basics of Photographing Vans

Despite the differences between van types, there are going to be some things that are the same when photographing any vans - or any cars at all for that matter. The lighting and approach to the photo is usually similar. Look through auto reviews (Subaru Reviews, Ferrari Reviews, Maybach Reviews and so on) to see how cars are typically photographed.

Can Mini Vans Be Cool Van Choices?

July 31st, 2008

If you wanted to purchase a van and you wanted to make sure that you got one of the coolest vans out there, which kind of van would you get? Most people are going to answer that they would get a VW van. Very few people would say that they’d get a mini van. Mini Vans are not considered cool but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make them cooler.

The Mini Van Reputation

The problem with the Mini Van isn’t really so much that it’s a van that can’t be cool. The problem is that mini vans have gotten a bad reputation over the years. The mini van is considered to be a family car and it’s generally not considered cool to be driving a family car. Other vans may also be good for families but it is this van that has the family van reputation.

Improving Mini Vans

Mini Vans have improved in style over the years so it’s possible to find a mini van that is cooler than the old ones on the market today. However, you might want to do some things on your own to make a mini van a little bit cooler. A good paint job, some new rims and a little bit of attention to the van can make these vans a whole lot more attractive.

Does It Matter if Your Van is Cool?

Some people drive an uncool mini van shamelessly. They say that it doesn’t matter if a van is cool. But most people don’t want to be driving around in vans that others on the road are laughing at. No, it doesn’t really matter if your van is cool. But it’s nice to drive around in cool mini vans rather than in ones that aren’t.

Vans: 10 Signs You’d Like a VW Van

July 29th, 2008

The VW van is one of the coolest vans ever made. However, it’s not the right van for everyone. Is it right for you?

Here are ten signs that you would like to own and drive a VW Van:

  1. You are infatuated with the 1960’s history that is most commonly associated with the VW van.
  2. You want a van that doesn’t scream “family man”.
  3. You think that vans are best when filled with more people than they can safely accommodate.
  4. You want a van that you can travel across the country in.
  5. You like the Volkswagen brand and are looking for a big vehicle.
  6. You don’t mind that the VW van doesn’t get great gas mileage (and / or you’d be willing to go with biodiesel).
  7. Van safety is only a moderate concern for you when looking at a vehicle.
  8. You are attracted to vans that are painted funky colors or have things attached to them.
  9. You are looking for an inexpensive van.
  10. You have always wanted a VW van and never been bold enough to get one.

Reviewing Other Vans

The VW van differs greatly from other vans. Consider reading Volkswagen Reviews of this van and comparing what you learn to reviews of other vans (such as Ford Reviews and Chevy Reviews of their vans). Think about what is different with the VW van and if that difference appeals to you. If it does, you are probably ready to get a VW van.

Mini Van Purchases: Buying Tires for Vans

July 24th, 2008

Most people who purchase a vehicle don’t think about the ongoing purchases that they will have to make once the vehicle has been used for awhile. For example, someone buying a mini van may not consider the ongoing costs of the van which include gas, oil changes and the replacement of parts like tires. Buying tires for vans is a little pricey compared to buying car tires so that is why you need to think about these things in advance.

Mini Van Tires

There are a few different reasons that you’ll spend more money on Mini Van tires than on car tires. The size and weight of the mini van require a different type of tire. Decreased demand for vans has decreased van tire production and driven up the cost of tires for the mini van. It should be noted, however, that mini van tires may be less costly than SUV tires.

Compare Van Costs with other Car Costs

To really tell if you’re getting a good deal on a mini van, you need to compare the ongoing cost of the van with the ongoing cost of driving other cars. Read random car reviews like Land Rover Reviews and Jeep Reviews to get a good sense of the ongoing costs of other cars on things like tire replacement or oil change prices.

Value of Vans

The mini van as well as other types of vans are actually typically considered cars that are good for what they cost. The cost of many vans has gone down since SUV popularity has decreased demand for the van. This means that ongoing costs could be balanced out by the initial cost of the van.
